Well, I just said I would do better writing blog entries and keeping up with Haylie, and now I've gone two weeks again without writing. So here's to catching up....
We had a wonderful Christmas this year. On December 23rd we had Christmas with Justin's family. We had a wonderful dinner, opened Christmas gifts, and then had breakfast and the Christmas story on Christmas Eve morning. Haylie had a lot of fun opening her gifts. She received mostly clothes (which were much needed), and the cutest little "baby" crib for her dolls from Mema and Papa. On Christmas Eve afternoon we went to spend the day with my family. We had a great time visiting, eating dinner together and opening gifts. Haylie got so many gifts, too many really, but we appreciate them! Her favorite from my family is probably the little kitchenette that she got. She loves playing at her kitchen while I'm cooking in my kitchen. Unfortunately, we had to cut the celebration a little short because of the blizzard that was coming in. We left Seminole around 4:00, and it took us about 45 minutes to get home....usually just a 15 minute drive. The visibility was awful, but at least we got home safely.
On Christmas morning, we woke and allowed Haylie do go see what Santa had brought her. She got a shopping cart with food in it, and a whole baby doll set complete with a stroller, swing, play pen, bouncer, play mat, high chair, etc. She has really had fun with it. She opened a few other gifts and her stocking and then we sat down for her daddy to read the Christmas story. We had already planned to spend the whole day together just the three of us, enjoying family time, so it didn't bother us that we were snowed in and had to anyway. I cooked my first "official Christmas dinner" complete with a ham, homemade noodles, green beans, mashed potatoes, homeade rolls, and even a cake for dessert. We had a wonderful day!
The week after Christmas Justin was off work, so we had a lot of lazy days together around the house, it was so nice. New Year's Eve we didn't do much. We did stay up til midnight, but that's about it.
In the meantime, I've been busy with church stuff. Our music minister retired at the end of December, so myself and another lady are currently the music team. We have been planning the worship services, I will be directing the choir, and also the pianist for services (I'm alternating every other week with another lady, thankfully). It takes lots of time, effort, and planning, but I'm glad to be able to help out until we find someone to take his place.
I started back piano lessons yesterday. I'm up to 8 piano students!! Thank God for blessing us with this opportunity to help us financially.
I got good news yesterday with my scentsy business. I got two recruits in one day to sign up with me. I've been selling for over 3 months and searching for recruits the whole time, and finally my first two signed in one day! I'm so excited! I hope I can give them good advice and I hope they enjoy selling it as much as I do. It really is fun and easy to sell!
On a side note, for awhile now, both our laptop and desktop have been doing weird things. We assumed they had some type of virus or something, so on Saturday our laptop got worse. We tried to delete the virus off, but it didn't work. It finally just died and wouldn't even come back on. So, we thought we better go by some new virus protection software for our desktop. We installed it on Sunday and did the sweep, it said it repaired everything and then on Monday our desktop wouldn't come on!!! So frustrating! So needless to say, we went and bought a new laptop and desktop and took our others to a computer store to get recovered. I sure hope they can recover all the files because all of our pictures from before Haylie was born until now were saved on it....I guess we just have to wait and see.
Today's a busy day so I better get going. I have a flute trio to work with, 3 piano lessons, a meeting, church, and then directing choir practice. Oh, and I guess I better bundle up because it's supposed to get really, really, really cold! Tomorrow's high is only 15 degrees!
